Here are just some issues facing Westminster right now, these are issues I will fight for and address immediately.  I also state a few long term visions I have for Westminster.

Water Rates

Downtown Westminster

Parks And Open Spaces

Election Reform

Bicycle Friendly Community

Health Services Support

Water Rates

I am going to commit to figuring out the best solution to lower our outrageous water rates.  I have not been convinced that Westminster's tier structure for water rates is the best option for our residents.  Up to the first 6,000 gallons the cost per 1,000 gallons is $3.57, the next tier it jumps to $7.35 per 1,000 gallons.  There is no need for our residents to be paying these costs when cities surrounding us are paying in the range of $3.22 to $3.96 per 1,000 gallons for all usage.

Downtown Westminster

I will handle the development of Downtown Westminster while listening to and acting on current residents’ concerns.  In regards to economic development my approach is going to be common sense. I am excited and will be a proponent of Westminster’s economic growth, but I am going to listen to residents and other businesses concerns about this growth. Our city growth we are facing isn’t worth harming current businesses and residents.  A serious question we need answered is what will Downtown Westminster give us that we don't already have?

Parks And Open Spaces

I am going to grow and continue to protect Westminster's parks and open spaces.  Ideally I would love to see specific wording in the deeds to our open space properties that states this land cannot be sold or developed for any reason, period, no exceptions.  I understand that current regulations would make it tough for the city to sell or develop on our current open spaces, but it is in the grasp of reality.  I want to make sure that our open spaces are protected, no matter what.

My wife and I love spending time outside, and Westminster offers a great variety for us to do just that.  You can find us running or biking through our awesome parks and open spaces.  Or at one of the many great events the city puts on like the 4th of July Celebration at City Park. I will continue support for our awesome parks and open spaces, and will not let anyone take advantage of them.

Election Reform

In our city charter it states very clearly in Chapter 3, Section 2, Paragraph a, in reference to city councilors "all of whom shall be nominated and elected from the City at large." I would like to make sure that this is true for all future situations, that there can be no "loopholes" or "work-around".  I believe that what happened last winter in regards to the 3 open city council seats was not in the spirit of the Westminster City Charter.

Bicycle Friendly Community

I am proud and would like to emulate the City of Arvada's "Arvada Bicycle Master Plan."  I want to continue to improve and cultivate a strong culture for Westminster recreational bicycling.  Working with the League of American Bicyclists, I strive for Westminster to be a city where bicycling is safe, convenient, and efficient for all residents.

Health Services Support

There is no debate, when the body is healthy it helps the mind be healthy.  I have a vision to start a program that will help Westminster residents obtain free or low cost health services.  These would include gym memberships, class workout sessions, and community building group or private counseling.

I can speak from experience, working out and counseling has had a tremendous positive impact for me.
